I am a wife and mother; health and fitness enthusiast and an Advanced Care Paramedic by trade. For 23 years, I have celebrated many wonderful moments in what some may call a 'thankless job'. Being a Paramedic has earned me the very special privilege of helping to bring beautiful, tiny lives into this world, as well as, the honour of comforting those and their loved ones at their moment of death. In between privilege and honour, there has been trauma, assault, loss and heartbreak. A toll I, among so many others, have most definitely paid.
In October 2016, after many months in denial of my symptoms, I was diagnosed with PTSD. In the months following my diagnosis, I have sought psychological care, spirituality, naturopathic care, meditation, Equine therapy, yoga, music, and exercise and nutrition to manage my symptoms, develop coping strategies and progress healthfully through my recovery. My goal is to share my own struggle and reveal my own vulnerabilities in hopes of helping others to start their own dialogue and begin on their own personal road to recovery.

With open arms we welcome Anita Venugopal to guide us through our outdoor yoga practice
Anita has been a physiotherapist since 1999, graduating from The University of Western Ontario. In her 15-plus-years career, she has taken extensive continuing education courses to improve her skills and help her practice. Anita has achieved internationally recognized qualifications in hands-on manual and manipulative therapy by becoming a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). She has participated in extensive post-graduate education in the area of orthopaedics.
Anita has obtained her acupuncture certification through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada, and completed the Integrated Dry Needling Program. Training in both types of acupuncture allows her to be selective in what would benefit her clients the most.
Anita is also a Stott trained Pilates Instructor and enjoys challenging her clients on both the mat and the Reformer. She believes a strong core is the foundation to a home or relationship; without it, everything crumbles. Understanding that a healthy body requires both strength and flexibility, Anita became a 200RYT Yoga instructor. Having certifications in both Yoga and Pilates, Anita is able to tailor individual programs to patients of all abilities. She enjoys working one on one with clients, teaching them to safely move through different poses, and without injury.

Emily has guided thousands of students from around the world in meditation and mindfulness. Her years of personal practice and study with teachers from various wisdom traditions shines through in her pluralistic style, allowing each of her students to discover the most effective method for their own practice. She brings a humanistic approach with a background in psychology and behavioural science. Her communication style imparts clarity and sparks curiosity given her former role as an advertising brand planner in Toronto. She continues to study with her own meditation teacher as well as complete ongoing training in mindfulness and MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction). After leading full-time meditation programs at a retreat centre in Bali, Indonesia, Emily returned to Ontario and is now the owner and lead guide of The Present, a Centre for Meditation & Mindfulness in Waterloo.
